Schedule and heat times are subject to change. Please arrive at the beach well before your child's heat to ensure that they do not miss their heat.
This year we will be implementing a priority system for the following divisions:
Boys 12-13
Girls 12-13
Boys 14-15
Girls 14-15
Priority will begin after Round 1 and only during the 4 or 3 man heats. Our judges will be following the same priority rules as the WSL. For a copy of their rulebook, use the link below; priority rules can be found on page 57.

The 21st Annual Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem is on May 17 & 18, 2025 at Ho’okipa Beach Park on the island of Maui.
SURF • ART • SCHOLARSHIP • ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS
We strive to elevate the potential and well-being of youth through surf-focused activities that promote academic success, healthy lifestyles, and lifelong environmental stewardship.
Menehune Mayhem
The Menehune Mayhem is a free two day surf contest for Maui’s youth ages 15 years old and younger. Additional activities to take part in at the event include creative exploration through art, music, and cultural activities along with educational centers for kids to learn the importance of being environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Art
The value in being creatively diverse in and out of the water helps broaden a wide range of skills for kids that are useful in life and learning. Creative exploration through art, music, and cultural activities supports free play and allows children to use their imagination while being hands-on.
Scholarship
The Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem scholarship program was established in 2018 to support deserving Maui students in their pursuit of knowledge. Scholarship recipients have been accepted to college to pursue fields of study that align with the foundation’s priorities: to perpetuate academic success, healthy lifestyles, and lifelong environmental stewardship.
Environmental Awareness
We believe leading by example and educating Maui’s youth in a fun, interactive, and memorable way about the importance of sustainability and taking care of our beaches and oceans. As the future stewards of Maui, we want to provide kids with the tools and education that can help increase their awareness about environmental issues and how to live responsibly.
